When the prophet Habakkuk kept watch for a word from the LORD, the answer came with an instruction: write it down, and write it plain, so it could be carried. In 1989, after that pattern, this church wrote down the vision it believed God had given it, and hung it on the wall.

Meet the needs of the people1
Train our people to live effective lives for Christ2
Guide people who are called of God to a place of ministry3
Involve more people in serving the Lord4

"Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come."Habakkuk 2:2–3

Our Story

A Full Gospel fellowship in Seguin, Texas since 1979

In 1979, Pastor Frank Willoughby and his wife Ruth felt the call of God to begin a church in Seguin. For two years the fellowship met wherever a door was open to them. In 1981 the doors of Good News Fellowship Church opened on B & B Road, dedicated by John Osteen.

Eight years later the vision was typed onto a page, colored by hand, and hung in a wooden frame. It hangs there still. Its four points have not changed.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."Proverbs 29:18

We are a Full Gospel church that welcomes believers of every denomination. We teach the Scriptures as they are written, and we believe in the Holy Spirit and His gifts, present and at work in the church today.

"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."1 Corinthians 1:10

Founding Pastors

Frank & Ruth Willoughby

Founding pastors of Good News Fellowship Church.

Frank Willoughby grew up in Detroit, served in the United States Army, and came to Texas, where he spent thirty-five years as a Sears and Roebuck serviceman. Ruth Lott was a San Antonio girl who rose to bank officer at the Federal Reserve Bank. They married in 1948. In 1979 they felt the call of God to start a church of their own, and they left their careers to pastor it full time.

For two years the congregation met wherever a door was open to them. In 1981 the doors of Good News Fellowship Church opened on B & B Road, and the building was dedicated by John Osteen. In 1989 the vision was typed onto a page, colored by hand, and hung on the wall, where it remains.

Ruth would pray for you in the middle of any busy place. Frank taught the Scriptures as written. They were married seventy-three years and never parted without three kisses. Good News was built on that kind of steadiness: the needs of the people met, the faithful trained, the called sent out, and more hands set to serving the Lord.
